October running recap…

This year overall has not been stellar for me with running and racing.  I managed to squeeze in a few races early in the year. Then I had some knee pain and back issues. I found a wonderful and affordable chiropractor in April and I started to see improvement with my pain. Over the summer I focused more on strength training with body pump and stretching to get rid of the pain. In September I was starting to feel much better, and started slowly running again. Then my hip began to have pain! UGH I was so frustrated. I had started training for a few 5/10ks and another half marathon and I really wanted to get back into running again. It is a good stress reliever for me, and I know it helps to keep me healthy!

During October I was on running restriction, but I had already signed up for a virtual 5k race through Joggermom. This race was one I really wanted to complete since I was in honor of breast cancer awareness month. It was very close to my heart as two of my dear friends have been bravely fighting this year. Sadly one of them passed away on October 20th. I was allowed to walk, and walk I did! It took me pretty much the entire month, but I finished the 26.2 (plus a little) on the 31st. It really made my heart happy that I was able to walk in honor and memory of such brave women!

Needless to say I am a bit nervous for the remaining training time before my next half. I know that Dec 22 is going to be here really fast. It may not be a stellar race, so I have changed my goal to just finishing! I doubt I will PR, but that is ok. Finishing the race and staying healthy are more important to me!!

And I finally got some new shoes in my favorite color!!  They are super comfy and pretty! So win-win!

Foodie Pen Pal reveal day October!!!

I am really excited to share about what my FPP from October sent.  It was my honor to welcome Manda to FPP as it was her first time!!! She was very creative, and did an really cool video of the box! Check it out here!
Through our email conversations we discovered that we both love fall and pumpkin!!! I mean, this probably means we are friends for life 🙂 Yay!!!
As I opened the box I just had to laugh! We picked a few items the same, and the rest were very similar….and we both shopped at the same store!  🙂
The box had the most adorable little decorations!!! I love them!

When I opened the box I found a super sweet note written on a very beautiful card!

Now for the yummies!!
One of my fall favorites!  I like to add a few dabs to my waffles and pancakes! Makes for a delicious fall breakfast (or dinner for that matter!)
And this mix is just perfect to make the pancakes and waffles to go with the pumpkin butter!

I have passed by this granola several times at Trader Joe’s, and I am SO excited to try it!!!

The day the box came my husband asked me to pick up a box of bars at the store.  Well when I got there, they were OUT!  So when I pulled this out of the box the hubs was SO happy 🙂

This tea looks so yummy! I can not wait to settle down this weekend and use it!

And one of my most favorite parts of the box!  CHOCOLATE!!! Yahoo!!! The hubs and I dug right in!

Thank you SO much Manda for the wonderful box! You did an amazing job and I am so glad you are now part of the FPP family 🙂

If YOU want to part of this amazing group, here is some info:

-On the 5th of the month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. It will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions.
-You will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. On the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal!
-The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treatsThe spending limit is $15The box must also include something written. This can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe…use your imagination!
-You are responsible for figuring out the best way to ship your items depending on their size and how fragile they are. (Don’t forget about flat rate boxes!)
-Foodie Penpals is open to blog readers as well as bloggers. If you’re a reader and you get paired with a blogger, you can choose to write a short guest post for your penpal to post on their blog about what you received. If two readers are paired together, neither needs to worry about writing a post for that month.
– Foodie Penpals is open to US, Canadian residents & European residents.  Please note, Canadian Residents will be paired with other Canadians only. We’ve determined things might get too slow and backed up if we’re trying to send foods through customs across the border from US to Canada and vice versa. So, I’m going to keep two separate lists and match US w/ US and Canada w/ Canada!

***If you’re in Europe, please contact Carol Anne from This Is Rock Salt at to get involved!
