Love Freekeh Review and Giveaway!

Hello friends!  Happy Wednesday!  Today I have a fun review & giveaway to share with y’all!  Thanks to my awesome ambassadorship with Fit Approach, I was sent some Freekeh and tried it out!
{Disclaimer: I was sent the Freekeh for free in exchange for a review.  All thoughts and opinions are my own!}
If you follow me on Instagram you may have seen me post lately about some meals I have enjoyed with some Freekeh!

You may be asking yourself, what IS Freekeh???  Well, Freekeh is an ancient grain first discovered in the Middle East roughly 2,000 years ago!  It comes from the top of green wheat and then is roasted.  It reminds me a little of quinoa or really fluffy rice.

Freekeh Foods comes in 3 flavors.  I was able to try the original and the rosemary sage.  They also have one more flavor, Tamari, which I would love to try one of these days! Besides Freekeh tasting so great, it is packed with fiber and protein, and this brand is organic and non-GMO! So winning in many areas!

Over the past few weeks I have toyed around with Freekeh in my kitchen and made some yummy meals with both the original and the rosemary sage flavors.  Here are a few things I came up with:
Freekeh Apple Crisp!
Freekeh in a smoothie bowl

Freekeh stir fry
Freekeh in taco salad

Freekeh with rosemary chicken and roasted brussles sprouts!

Wow!  I am drooling again looking at these pictures!  As you can see, Freekeh is very versatile and can be used in many different recipes!
Have you ever tried Freekeh? What ideas do you have for a recipe??
Would you want to try some Freekeh AND a cookbook full of awesome recipes?  Well, here is your chance!

Bulu Box Review PLUS an awesome discount code!

Happy Monday friends!  Can you believe it is the last day of August?? Where has the summer gone?  It feels like it was May just yesterday!
Anyways, I have a fun review to share with you today!  I love that I get to try new things and share with y’all thanks to my partnership with Fit Approach and being a Sweat Pink Ambassador!
So I present to you, my Bulu Box.

What is a Bulu Box you ask?  Well let me explain! It is a fun box that comes with samples of items that pertain to health and/or weight loss (you pick your category).  It is a variety of supplements, foods, sports fuels, nutrition items, sleep aids, energy boosters and more!  Each box comes with 4-5 different samples plus a lifestyle bonus! The beauty of Bulu Box is that they also have full size items for sale right on their website and often have sales on the items!  If you participate in reviews of the products on the site, you earn reward points and can get $ off your boxes!  That sounds like a win-win to me!

So what did I get in my box?  Let me share!

The first item I tried was a Mediterra Bar.  I was a delightful crunchy bar that would be perfect for a on the go snack!  They use real fruits, veggies, grains and seeds to make the bars, so a win in my book!  (Hint, if you go to their website, you can also try 2 flavors for free…just $1.00 for shipping)
IMG_8468 The next item I tried was a Island Boost.  Island boost is an energy fuel source you can take at the beginning of a workout session and throughout the duration of the workout.  I used it a few days ago for a jog and it did seem to help my energy level as I was pretty tired from watching an infant overnight.  The only thing that I was not thrilled about was that it was so sweet! I would be interested in trying different flavors (Valor and Renegade) to see how they compare.

The next item in my box was a sample of Yerba Prima Fiber Plus Powder. Yerba Prima is a company that provides herbal supplements to help things flow properly…if you get my drift 😉  I am all about having enough fiber in my body and making sure there are no issues.  This product is a great way to do that by using natural substances! I love that the products support a healthy digestive track as well as eye sight, respiratory health, memory and more! IMG_8042

My next item is Runa.  It is a tea based on clean energy.  This packet is loose leaf, and I have actually not had a chance to try it! But, I think it will work in a french press?? Someone help me out here.  I can’t wait to try it.  I LOVE tea, and a tea that is made with fantastic ingredients from the Amazon Rain Forest is all good with me.  Plus, it smells amazing through the packet!  I can not wait to get this in my system!
Note: They also sell the tea already brewed in bottles and cans! IMG_8458My last item in the box was what they call a Lifestyle Bonus!  UP4 Probiotics are a kid friendly probiotic. This one came in vanilla, but they come in a variety of flavors as well as being tailored to different genders, ages, and need for immune support.  Even these were for kids, I tried them out.  When I first saw the cube I was afraid it was going to be super chalky, but I was pleasantly surprised it was more creamy.

So that is my Bulu Box!  Now, because you are all so awesome, Bulu box is offering a 50% discount for anyone who signs up for a 3 month subscription!  You really can’t get much better than that! That means $5.00 per box!!! So what are you waiting for??

Avoid overeating by eating a MealEnder!

My partnership with Fit Approach gives me some really cool opportunities.  Recently I was invited to try Mealenders.  Mealenders appealed to me for many different reasons! They combine action from the body and the brain and can be an aid used to avoid overeating!
As a strong advocate of healthy eating and eating disorder recovery, mindful eating and listening to your body are things I try to practice in my everyday life!  Of course there are times when I have treats, but on most days, those are not something my body needs, even if I feel I am craving them.
Enter MealEnders!  I was stoked to receive each of the 4 flavors that MealEnders come in.
Chocolate mint, cinnamon, citrus, and mocha!  I love how there are flavors that would seem to appeal to most people.  Of course as Chocolate Runner Girl, the chocolate were my favorite, but I did enjoy the variety of flavors!

How they work!
MealEnders are a small lozenge that has 2 layers to it.  The outside layer honestly tastes like a dessert to me, and then the inside layer is a cool tingle layer that sends a signal to the brain that says meal time is over.  The inner layer is what they call the “Inner Core’s Active-Taste Layer.” It activates the trigeminal nerve.  Well what is the trigeminal nerve you ask? Don’t worry, I asked myself the same question.  Thanks to this helpful information I now know!

“Trigeminal nerve: The fifth cranial nerve; responsible for sensation in the face and certain motor functions such as biting and chewing. It sends sensory information from the face and body to the brain for processing. Chemicals from foods stimulate the trigeminal nerve endings in the mouth. Together with taste (sweet, sour, salty, bitter and umami), and smell, the trigeminal nerve contributes to the overall flavor of foods. Trigeminal nerve endings in the oral cavity and tongue are stimulated by pungent foods such as chili pepper or peppermint resulting in the sensation of hot, cool or tingle.” (From MealEnders.com)

It takes about 20 min for the lozenge to dissolve in your mouth, which is the amount of time it takes for your mind to get a clue that you are full!  How brilliant is that?  🙂
It has been the perfect little ‘treat’ after meals to keep me in check about my food choices.

I really LOVE this visual that MealEnders has on their site!  Go check it out 🙂

One other thing that really appealed to me is that they are low in sugar, no added stimulants, gluten free and kosher!

And because MealEnders is so fabulous, you my lovely readers have the chance to win a prize package with all 4 flavors!  Enter the giveaway below!!  The giveaway will end on 3/27/15 at 11:59pm CST, so enter now!

Move, Nourish, Believe Challenge Week 1 Recap!

Move: This week was the first week of the Move, Nourish, Believe challenge from Fit Approach & Lorna Jane! It was a great week full of fun challenges to mix up my normal workout routines!

Day 1: Sweat it out – Show your favorite way to sweat.
I love to sweat in so many ways, but the one way that really makes me feel alive is to lift weights! I am amazed at how strong my body feels when I am consistent with lifting weights! On Monday I also rode the bike which I also enjoy doing!

Day 2: Change it up – Pick a new way to sweat.
Since it was a running training day for me I decided to change up the type of run I did! I was able to get my 5 miles in, but I did a different workout! It was really good for me to change up what I was doing with running! I will have to add this pyramid workout in more often!

Day 3: Let’s Get Planking! – Plank for 5 min today.
I have not been as consistent with planks as I should be with my workouts. I was curious as to how many sets it would take me to get to 5 min! Surprisingly, only 5!|

Day 4: Buddy Up! – Workout with a buddy!
I get the privilege of doing this pretty much every day. The sweet twins I nanny for love to workout with me! We go on runs, play lots of games at the park, do yoga, lift weights and stretch! They keep me going for sure!

Day 5: Fave Friday! – My five fitness favorites!
There are many things that I love about fitness, and there are a few tools and people that really make me smile!

#1 – Last summer I was introduced to an amazing group on Facebook called IR4, I Run For! It is an organization that pairs runners up with kiddos who have a variety of special needs!  The kids are such an inspiration and all the stories keep me going!  I was paired up with the sweetest girl Aliceia who is an inspiration to me every single day!
#2 – My husband is my biggest cheerleader with anything I do with health and fitness! He is such an encouragement to me and keeps me going with new challenges and goals!
#3 – My heart rate monitor is one of my favorite tools. It helps me with my training and keeps me focused on reaching new levels of fitness.
#4 – Since I have been at my gym I have met some of the most amazing people who are constantly there for me! They are some of the most supportive, helpful, loving, encouraging and fabulous people I know!! So thankful for them!
#5 – Body Pump! This class has been the most life-changing class I have ever taken. I started taking it a year ago this month! In all my years of lifting weights, this class has helped me gain the most progress in the shortest amount of time! I saw results in a few months that I never saw in years of other weight lifting work!

Week one was so fun and a great addition to my fitness routine!  I love that this challenge encouraged me to step outside the box of my normal routine!

I am so excited for week 2: Nourish!!
