I want to welcome back Motivation Monday with my first guest Paula from Run Far Wine Often!
She is a fellow Sweat Pink, Girls Gone Sporty & My Soxy Feet Ambassador!  We have a lot in common and her story is certainly an inspiration to me!!

Here is her story:
My story is similar to what a lot of people go through I’m sure 🙂 I was never athletic (definitely not a runner). My brothers were the athletic ones – I was the bookworm.

In my early 20s I started to put on a little more weight. Then a little more. Until one day, at 25, I realized I had gained 60 pounds over the past 3 years.

So, I did what a lot of girls do – I tried every fad diet. I took diet pills. I drank slim fast. I ate lean cuisines for every meal. And some of the weight would come off, but it would inevitably show back up. What I was not doing – what I HATED doing – was work out.

Finally, after a year of yoyo dieting I realized I had to do something different. It was then that I finally started working out. I started doing the Couch to 5k program to get me running. Within six months I had completed my first 5k and 10k and became obsessed. By the end of the first year of running I had done my first half.

Five years later, I’m training for my first full marathon and achieved a PR in the half of 1:44. It’s become my lifestyle. I still struggle to maintain good nutrition (I love food), but I’ve never stopped running.

Paula is training for her first marathon to top off all her hard work!!  Let’s leave her some love and encouragement!!

Thank you for sharing your story Paula!

Weekend adventures ;)

Good morning loves!  How is it already Monday?  This weekend FLEW by!  Probably because I was so busy for most of it.  I have slowly been working on making changes in our home, and this weekend I painted our side tables along with a bunch of other small projects.  If you did not see this post, you might have missed what I did last weekend.  Amazing what some paint and new hardware can do!!

In between the errands, cleaning, laundry, seeing friends, church, and some work I managed to get our side tables all painted.

I also picked up a new lampshade from World Market!  It was on sale AND I had a $10 coupon, so $2.70 later I had a whole new look!
IMG_5717So the finished product is looking a bit like this!

Painting supplies – $25
New bedding – $17
New lamp shade – $2.70
Total– $44.70

Not too shabby considering the new furniture I want (and will maybe get some day) retails for $1700!

I also used a Christmas gift card yesterday and got a 90 min hot stone massage!  It was pure bliss!  It is hard to explain the feeling, but something like warm butter all over my back and deep tissue trigger points being hit was dreamy.  I am pretty sure I fell asleep and was drooling a bit…Haha.

How was YOUR weekend?  Hope everyone is staying warm.

Well, welcome to 2015….only a few days late

Hello friends!  How is it already day 9 of 2015???  This year is already starting to fly by.  I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas and New years.  Things have been plugging along on this end.  Been battling through some migraines since Christmas day, so that has not been fun.  I am not really sure what is causing them, but I am ready for them to go away!  I used to get them often several years ago, but then they went away for the most part.  Other than the migraines, the rest of 2014 was a bit of a let down.  I have yet to really post about my last race, and the disappointment that came with not finishing.  I know in my head that I pushed myself really hard in 2014 to reach some goals that were challenging, yet attainable, and I am proud of those goals, but not finishing the last race really set me back.  I think all year I had this dream and vision that I was going to rock the last few races and really prove that I CAN do this despite some other things I have been dealing with.  Not finishing was like a smack in the face with a reality check that I have a lot of work to do….So in lies my goals for 2015 which I am still processing through and working on.

So in other news I was very blessed and fortunate to receive some really great Christmas gifts, spend some quality time with The hubs, and get some things done in my house.
A few weeks before Christmas I was asked several times what I wanted. As I have grown older, I really don’t NEED anything, but there were a few kitchen items I have had my eye on for a while.

A girl can dream right?!?!

Well thanks to my darling husband, and generous gifts from several friends, my wishes were granted!!!

I have been in the mood to change some things in our house, but did not want to fork over $$$$ to do it.  This past weekend I finally got some new bedding (thanks to a gift card) and painted a dresser that we use for kitchen storage!  Bedroom furniture is next on the list to change!!

I am pretty happy with how it all turned out.  I have a few areas I need to touch up, but overall I am pretty happy with it.  I got the look I was aiming for for around $50 vs $1200!!  Not bad, not bad.
